Questions

WHAT TECHNIQUES ARE YOU USING?

I worked mostly with a medium format camera doing the printing myself in a color darkroom, re-arranging the moods the way I wanted. Unfortunately, several years ago, as I lost the opportunity to rent the only remaining color darkroom where I live, I now use a digital camera for my sessions…

DO YOU HAVE A FACEBOOK PAGE?

Yes, you can find it here: facebook.com/darkfairiesphotography

CAN I PUT SOME OF YOUR PICTURES ON MY WEBSITE?

Due to the amount of requests received every month, I can’t give permission anymore for using my pictures in other websites since I have to ask permission from the concerned models. It became way too time consuming to try to reach everyone.

DO YOU HAVE A BOOK PUBLISHED?

Not a personal one, but I have pictures published in various books such as  “The Art Of Gothic” by Natasha Scharf, published by Omnibus Press, “21st Century Goth” by Mick Mercer, published by Reynolds & Hearn and did the cover of “The house in New Orleans” written by Fleur Reynolds, published by Virgin Books, to name a few.

I did some work for various magazines such as Meltdown (U.K.), Tomb Raver (U.K.), Kaleidoscope (U.K.), Présence (Canada), Astan magazine (Germany).

WHERE DO YOUR MODELS FIND THEIR CLOTHES?

Some of my models made their own creations while others bought them in Gothic or fetish shops.

WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR MODELS?

In Gothic clubs, internet or simply on the streets.

CAN I BE YOUR MODEL?

Unless it is a paid contract, I always chose my models myself… If you live in the Montreal area or wish to travel there for a photo shoot, you can write me and I’ll let you know my fees for a session.

DO YOU UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE OFTEN?

I only do a few changes a year. This is my online portfolio, so I only do updates when I have enough new material to put there.

WHY “DARK FAIRIES”?

For me, every of my models are “dark fairies” since most of them are from the Gothic underground scene.  So, even if they have no wings, they are “dark fairies”…

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST IF I WANT TO BUY A PICTURE?

I’m not able to offer this service anymore for pictures from film that never been already printed in the last years (when I could still rent a color darkroom). For those from film that I still have prints or those done with a digital camera, depending on whether the picture is printed as a limited edition or not, the price ranges from $120 to $200 U.S. for an 11×14 inch picture printed on a 16×20 inch Fuji Archive paper.

IS IT STILL POSSIBLE TO SEE THE PICTURES FROM YOUR OLD WEBSITE?

My old website looked fine when the screen resolution was 1024 x 768. Eventually, it looked horrible with the new higher resolution screens or if viewed on mobile phones. I decided to reduce the amount of pictures in the new version as there was too much material. You can still view the old site here: darkfairies.co.uk/old_site

IN WHICH PART OF THE WORLD YOU LIVE?

I live in Montreal (Canada).
